Cover Me

To whom it may concern,

My name is Brielle Pichette; in this letter I will show you my interests, strengths accomplishments and my goals.

I have many interests but the spider to my web of interests is music.  Growing up my first instrument was piano; since then I have learned five other instruments. Being a musical as well as a performer has taught me to keep calm in front of a large crowd.  Recently I have been learning the art of music producing and making my own music with various programs. Last year I turned the tables; I now do sound and lighting set ups for other performers. Learning the tech behind a performance has taught me valuable skills such as always thinking on my toes, being organized as well as being a leader.

Over the course of my productive years I have finished many Red Cross courses, performed at various events and been a part of tech aspects of musical productions.  In grade ten I was given the honor to share the “top band student” award with a friend of mine also, awarded top soloist at the Kiwanis Music festival for concert bands. Some of my strengths consist of teaching others about subject I am knowledgeable in, being a leader and organization.

My main goal at this point in my life is to go to Summit Pacific Bible College and get a major of music. I have smaller goals to reach my main goal. I am working towards taking my intermediate rudiments theory exam so I also have the possibility of teaching piano in the future. Also I am hoping to finish mu NLS to become a lifeguard. Being a part of the tech program at my school I would like to enhance my knowledge in that department to being to utilize the skill while taking my major of music. Thank-you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will consider me to be a part of your team.

I am not what you are, that’s what makes me who I am and not you.

When I stand in water it parts down the middle. When I stand in a fountain the coins pool near me because my personality is so magnetic. When I stand on the moon gravity holds me down. Newton’s laws don’t apply to me. I get asked to make matches by cupid. I get asked who’s naughty and nice by Santa. I get asked where the pot of gold is by leprechauns. When the world was created I was the one who made the sun shine.  When I’m bored I go for a swim in the Bermuda triangle and never get lost. I once burnt toast and still ate it.

I taught Madonna how to sing before she was discovered. I taught ray Charles how to play piano. I taught Helen Keller’s teacher. I found Waldo. I eat two bite brownies in 10 bites.  On weekends I scale the Great Wall of China. Just because. I fly ostriches like you would fly an air plane.  God turned water into wine. I turned wine into water. But I haven’t yet graduated high school. Keyword here is yet.

Spoken Word- Poetry

"The Type" by Sarah Kay:
"You are not the problem. You are not the Answer..... You are a woman." In this poem Sarah Kay talks about a how women should be a woman, not a man's version of a woman. Throughout the poem she uses a serious mood yet a soft and hopeful one. "You can grow up to be the type of woman men want," but be careful because men and women want different things. The theme of this poem is "know you are the type of woman who is searching for a place to call yours" and find a man who wants the same. I really enjoyed how she shows the differences in the man to woman wants and desires and how women morph to the wants of a man when they don't have to in the end.

"When Love Arrives" by Sarah Kay:
I knew what love looked like, or so I thought. Sarah and Phil create an intense mood with underlying comedy to discuss how people think they "[know] exactly what love looks like" when they are growing up, only to find out love is nothing like what they thought it would be. The theme of this poem is don't going looking for love because you won't find it, let love find you. This poem spoke to me because it is one hundred percent true; people think they know what love looks like when they're young because they don't know what love is. "Love is not who you are expecting" though, Sarah and Phil state clearly through this poem the love isn't perfect, but love, it's perfect.

"If I Should Have a Daughter" by Sarah Kay:
Sometimes i too scared to step outside the door of my house, but my mom stands by me and makes me brave. In this poem Sarah explains how "if [she] should have a daughter" she will teach her to be bold and brave but help her along the way if it is necessary. She talks using a hopeful and nurturing tone and mood. The theme in this poem is the world is a scary place but if you look close and explore you will find happiness. Don't be afraid to step out and fail because you have to fall every once in awhile. I liked this poem because it touches on almost all the emotional aspects of a teenage girl. My "hand will always be to small to catch the pain [I] want to heal" but that doesn't mean i shouldn't try.
